ShipHero Sandbox GraphQL API Access

Hi,

I’m currently working with the ShipHero sandbox and was able to authenticate successfully and receive both an access token and refresh token.

However, when I use the access token to make a GraphQL request, I’m getting:

403 Public API access is disabled for this user

I’d like to confirm whether this is something I can enable from my side, or if it needs to be enabled by ShipHero.

We need GraphQL access to retrieve the warehouse_id and create test orders.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble! To dig into this properly, could you share a bit more info:

  1. The email or account ID of the user you authenticated with
  2. The approximate date/time you hit the 403 error

With that we can check what’s going on with your API access settings and get you unblocked quickly.

Best regards, Luciano

Hi Luciano,

Here are the details:

I checked the time in Postman when the 403 error occurred. If this timestamp doesn’t work for your investigation, please let me know and I can send another request to reproduce the 403 error.

Thanks,
Kenneth

Hi Luciano,

I just wanted to follow up and ask if there are any updates regarding your investigation into the GraphQL permission issue.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for the details. I traced the exact request (account 100718, info@latampep.com.br, 15:26:10 UTC).

The 403 is expected here: Public API access is disabled for that specific user. This is a per-user setting, so an account admin needs to enable it. It’s not something we can do on our side, and it’s not sandbox-specific.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Log in to shipping.shiphero.com with an admin account.
  2. Go to Users & Roles.
  3. Select info@latampep.com.br.
  4. Go to the API access section.
  5. Enable Public API Access.
  6. Save.

Once that’s done, try your request again from Postman and it should go through.

Let us know if you still get the 403 after that!

Best regards, Luciano

Hi Luciano,

Thank you for this. This is very helpful.

Thanks,
Kenneth

You’re very welcome! I’m really glad it helped. Feel free to reach out if anything else comes up!
